Susan O'Brien, DVM

Dr. Susan O’Brien followed her life-long aspirations of becoming a veterinarian when she graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 2010 with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.  She is a 2006 graduate of Sweet Briar College in Virginia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.

In her final year of veterinary school, Dr. O’Brien completed a rotation in a rural Peruvian village treating dogs, cats, donkeys and horses.  It started a drive to continue philanthropic efforts and volunteerism throughout her career.

Following veterinary school, Dr. O’Brien completed a year-long extensive internship at a mixed animal practice in her native Ohio.  She stayed on as an associate veterinarian at this practice for two years once she completed the internship in July of 2011.  A lot of her focus during this time was general medicine and emergency care of horses, dogs and cats.  She made the move to Colorado and began working at a small animal veterinary clinic while she developed her business.

Her inspiration behind Colorado On-Site Veterinary Services was to provide enhanced preventative care of dental maintenance, vaccination protocols, strategic deworming as well as nutritional guidance to maintain optimal health.  She pursued several advanced certifications in the modalities of acupuncture, chiropractic care and laser therapy in order to offer a full array of services to her patients.  Dr. O’Brien is certified in veterinary acupuncture by Medical Acupuncture for Veterinarians.  She is certified in chiropractic care by the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association and the Options for Animals College of Veterinary Chiropractic.

In her free time, you’ll find her riding, hiking, fishing and enjoying the great state of Colorado with her husband Kenny and daughter Violet.  They share their home three dogs, two cats, a haflinger and two quarter horses and a host of ducks and chickens.

Elizabeth Neill, Certified Veterinary Technician

Elizabeth is a Florida native and grew up on the water snorkeling, wakeboarding, and commercial fishing with her family. After living in the Bahamas for 2 years, she moved to Colorado in 2016 and pursued a certified veterinary technology degree, graduating in May 2020. Her interests include photography, hiking, camping, and wildlife. With her degree in Zoo Animal Technology, she really enjoys meeting your scaly and feathered friends! You may have seen her golden retriever pup Oberyn (or "Obi" for short) around. We all adore the little rascal and are happy to have him join the team as well!

Phoebe High, Certified Veterinary Technician

Originally from Pennsylvania, Phoebe moved to Colorado in 2014. After moving around the state from Durango to Denver, she found herself in the Valley to complete a degree in Veterinary Technology at Colorado Mountain College graduating in May of 2021. With a background in small animals, she quickly discovered her passion for animals of all sizes and species, which is how she found herself at On-Site Veterinary Services. Phoebe is a fur-mom to two dogs Biggie and Archie, Harley the cat, and one rat named Chuckie. In her free time, you'll find her summiting Colorado's 14ers as well as rock climbing and running various trails in Colorado.

Samantha Nowicki, Certified Veterinary Technician

Sam is very excited to be a part of the Colorado On-Site Veterinary team as a certified technician. Although she is from the deep south and has lived in many places the past 5 years, the mountains have called her back to Colorado, this time to stay! As much as she loves cats, dogs, and cuddly furry things, she has a special place in her heart for the exotic creepy crawlies such as snakes and lizards - she even has a pet tarantula named Bavmorda! For Sam, summers are for hiking, mountain biking, camping, river time, live music concerts, and eating good food. Winters are for skiing, snowshoeing, and soaking in as many hot springs as possible. She also has a particular fondness for western movies, and feels like she is living in one helping with Dr. O'Brien's horse patients in the mountains!

Sabrina Thornton, Receptionist

Born in California and raised in Colorado, Sabrina has lived in the area for most of her life. Her passions are writing, nature, and travel, the latter of which she hopes to get back to soon with a return trip to Australia to visit friends. Sabrina moved to Glenwood Springs in early 2021 with her partner and their 4-year-old “Rotten Aussie” (Rottweiler/Australian shepherd), Jax. They enjoy hiking and camping and recently introduced Jax to the beach for the first time. Turns out he likes to body surf!

Sabrina knew she wanted to work with animals from a very young age. As the newest member of the team, she is thrilled to finally pursue her childhood dream and is very excited to join the On-Site crew!

Alexis Ehrlich, Pre-Vet Student

Alexis is a true Coloradan and has spent most of her life in the mountains. Raised around animals she has three dogs, two cats, and a horse named Poncho. Alexis has worked with Dr. O’Brien and the Onsite team for the past five summers and will be applying to vet school next spring. She is currently studying Biomedical Sciences at Colorado State University while also pursuing her interest in cell and molecular bioengineering research. In her free time, Alexis enjoys spending time with her horse and exploring Colorado with friends.
